No, no.. I have been keeping my feet busy in tennis shoes & hiking boots while still constantly dreaming of the day I can go back to heels everyday.. heels such as these, which when emailed to me, took my breath away. Introducing Ann Roth’s new line, rich in brocade and lush fabric. Check out the entire collection here www.AnnRothShoes.com
God, has it really been like 3 weeks since I’ve posted? Thank you all for your kind emails! I have no excuse for the delay.. really no excuse.. except one, which is that the internet in this country never works. As in ever. Oh, also and that I have been busy doing things like drinking.. and hanging out.. and going to the beach (to hang out) and some school work of course.. and a little more hanging out. Yes, yes.. the pace of life here is much slower, and sadly does not entail me wearing fabulous shoes... I give you exhibit A, my recent excavations of a Maya Chultun (which is basically a big hole in the ground that we’re hoping contains a burial):

Not exactly Manolo friendly...
Anyway- what I really wanted to tell you about was the stunning new collection from Lanvin at Barneys right now. Seriously, SUCH good stuff! Check it out below and please be sure to email me your real life pics if you pick up a new pair. I’m like a junkie.. I need a fix.. I need a fix real bad... real life pics will have to suffice...
Until next time (which will probably be in 2010 at this rate)
XO
Carrie

They have a 50’s classic vibe to them which I of course adore. Have I mentioned I haven’t worn a pair of real heels in almost 2 weeks?? Oh and my camera is dead so I haven’t been able to post any Belizean shoe pics yet- but I promise I will! I also stumbled into a used clothing store here and the shoe section contained used versions from Stuart Weitzman and Steve Madden to name a few. Who knew?

This is due in part to the internet speed seemingly being powered by a couple monkeys turning a hand crank somewhere in the jungle. Seriously, its sloooow. And I’m lazy. natch. Anyway- this tropical weather has me longing for some new sandals and Burberry has come out recently with several great pairs. My faves are below. I’m so excited for 2009! But before the ball drops tonight, lets take a look back on some of my favorite shoes of 2008:

#10- The Pepe by Manolo Blahnik. It’s futuristic appeal wasn’t lost on Rihanna. Or the knock off designers. Forever 21 already has a version for $19.99 compared to the $745 Barneys is charging for the real deal.

#9- The Valentino Satin Pearl Sandals. Lovely, delicate and incredibly girly. Just like they should be. This sandal will be as timeless as Valentino himself.

#8- The Gucci Corset Pump. This simple black pump was brought to life with an interesting mid section and a mischievous lace up side. I’ve seen no less than 5 other brands trying to imitate, but the original is always the best.

#7- The Miu Miu Teacups. Some loved them, some hated them- but everyone was interested. Miu Miu had such an incredible year as I often joked I was going to rename this site the Miu Miu review. Through insects, jewel tones and even tea cups, Miu Miu brought the whimsy back into shoes with a vengeance.

#6- Christian Louboutin for Rodarte (as worn by V. Beckham). It’s not very often you can call a shoe fierce and really truly mean it. These shoes which could definitely double as a weapon, were shown on just about every shoe and fashion blog out there. Love em or hate em, they make for great blog fodder.

#5: The Turquoise Feather Heel from Manolo Blahnik. Pretty and edgy at the same time, the master Manolo has done it again. These were some of my very very favorites of 2008.

#4- The Fish Bone Sandal from Giuseppe Zanotti. Who can forget this shoe? Made famous by Samantha in the much anticipated Sex and the City movie, women everywhere were lining up to get their pair. If they were enough to seduce Smith Jerrod, that’s good enough for me.

#3- The Open-toe Wedge by Givenchy. Worn by the lovely Coco Rocha in Barney’s best mailer of the year (Emma’s Dilemma), these fashion forward boots are edgy yet simple. I absolutely adore them.

#2- The Petal Sandal by Christian Louboutin. These sandals bring an entirely new meaning to the word delicate. Women everywhere swooned when these appeared, then gasped at the nearly 4 digit price tag. Sure to adorn many privileged feet this spring, these petal sandals will be around for a long time to come... as will the inevitable knockoffs.

#1- Rene Caovilla. And finally, my number one pick for 2008. My very, very favorite shoe this year- the princess sandal from Rene Caovilla. Although they didn’t get much press (except by me, because I seriously could not stop talking about them) they epitomize delicate but bold details. This is the type of shoe you buy outfits and dresses for and pass down through generations. Ah.. Rene Caovilla, how I love thee

So that’s all for now. I hope you all have a very safe and happy New Years! We’ll see you in ’09!
xo
Carrie

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday vacation! We took a little break over here from the ol blawg for some blissful days of doing nothing but are back now and ready for the new year! As many of you have heard me ramble on about, this new year is going to take to me to Belize for a couple semesters of studying abroad. And with Belize comes a unique footwear problem. Unique being that I can no longer rely on sky high stilettos (which I will probably be packing anyway in my official silent protest of this tragedy). I did however manage to pick up two new pairs of shoes over the break at a ridiculously good price at Neiman’s last call (which I will post soon). And after browsing the internets this morning, I’ve noticed the sandal fairy is definitely on my side. First, take these toe ring flats from Miu Miu:

They look super comfy and the top-stitching plays well with the soft suede. And how sad is it, that even after typing the word “suede”, I imagine this dude?

SICK.

Moving on, Prada has also put out some drool-worthy new sandals:

I love the metallic snake pattern and the oversized jewels. Perfect for cocktail hour in the jungle. There is going to be a cocktail hour, right?

Finally, the Matisse Sandal from Tod’s

I can already see my tanned feet glistening next to those white straps, complimented nicely by the bronze. Alternatively I can also see those white straps covered in dirt and grime and me deciding I’m an idiot for wearing $400 sandals on the inevitable mile long trek to the supermarket. Have I mentioned I’m getting a little nervous?

Anyway- that’s all for now. Check in later this week when I’ll be counting down my favorite shoes of 2008!

xo
Carrie
